On Thursday afternoon, New Hampshire Governor, Chris Sununu announced that he has mandated that all individuals in the state above five years old must wear masks both indoors and outdoors, with a few exceptions. New Hampshire becomes the 37th state government to violate all of its innocent citizens’ rights without due process.
Currently 98 patients in New Hampshire hospitals have suspected or confirmed COVID, which equals 0.0075% of people living in the state. Of course, a massive proportion of those deemed to be hospitalized due to COVID either had false negatives or are actually hospitalized for other issues and happened to also be COVID positive or may have some symptoms of COVID. Considering that nearly every symptom in existence is now considered to be a ‘COVID symptom’, one could imagine how the stats are inflated by as much as one thousand fold.
Lord Sununu’s order commands that: “…all persons over the age of 5 within the State of New Hampshire shall wear a mask or cloth face covering over their noses and mouths any time they are in public spaces, indoors or outdoors, where they are unable to or do not consistently maintain a physical distance of at least six feet from persons outside their own households.”
The order also gives everyone who does not wish to wear a mask a pretty easy excuse:
“A person who declines to wear a mask or cloth face covering because of a medical or developmental issue, or difficulty breathing, shall not be required to produce documentation, or other evidence, verifying the condition.”
Still, many people believe that the order violates the natural rights of individuals.
“NH doesn’t need or want a scientifically unsound mask mandate. Nothing should be forced on the public without overwhelming evidence of efficacy, and no data about mask mandates show they do anything to reduce transmission or hospitalizations.”, Mellissa Blasek (R-Merrimack) told The Liberty Block.
Representative Keith Ammon (R-Hollis) Tweeted in response to the extra-legislative decree: “I will be attending the House Republican caucus tomorrow without a mask. Try and stop me.”
On Thursday evening, multiple individuals in Republican leadership in New Hampshire have expressed their immense displeasure regarding the latest tyrannical decree.
The mandate comes just after Joe Biden held a conference call with Republican and Democratic governors, during which he asked them all to implement statewide mask mandates, reports Reuters.
As we’ve seen Sununu do for the past few years, he is once again straddling the lines between the paranoid COVID panic spreaders and the pro-freedom individuals.
The mask mandate is not the strictest in the US, but it is also not the most pro-freedom in the US. Sununu’s goal seems to be to remain perfectly neutral and balanced. While there may be some merit to a balanced approach in some circumstances, offending both sides of the political (or COVID paranoia) spectrum may not be wise in this case.
